LCBA Alliance in Colombia: ANDERCOL and AIMPLAS

Andercol is a Colombian company of the Akzonobel group with more than 55 years of experience in the development of innovative solutions in the production of raw materials such as polymers, resins, composites, additives and other materials. Andercol’s strategy is sustainability, so its circular economy projects have a very important weight in the development of its operation.

This is why thanks to the Low Carbon Business Action Colombia program, and in the search to implement new technologies for the molecular recycling of amber PET and thermoformed PET, Andercol meets the Spanish company AIMPLAS to work together in the research for the improvement of mechanical and molecular recycling of PET. The purpose of this collaboration is to become the implementers of a technology that does not yet exist in Colombia.

As a result of this implementation, and in commitment to the environment, it is expected to recycle and valorize this single-use material produced in large quantities and that, as of today, goes directly to the country’s landfills.
